Ix-Related Cancer Legislation Introduced
By Josh Seidman | Popularity: 10%Congress members Lois Capps (D-CA) and Charles Boustany (R-LA) re-introduced The Comprehensive Cancer Care Improvement Act yesterday. Although the text of the legislation is not yet available on the Library of Congress Web site, a related press release makes clear that the legislators believe information therapy (Ix) is an important component to improving cancer care for Americans.
According to a press release from the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, the legislation (which had 110 House co-sponsors in the 110th Congress), the bill “would improve care for people diagnosed with cancer by empowering patients with written information necessary to make informed decisions — from the time of diagnosis and throughout their lives — and also by providing documented information that is crucial to coordinating care with other providers.”
I’ll post more information on it as I’m able to track it down.
